If we're late, $100 comes off your bill

Hamilton Same Day Plumbing is QBCC licensed, and every job is done by a licensed plumber. The suburb splits two ways, and both shape the work. Census figures put 70 per cent of local dwellings as flats or apartments, so stacked wet areas and shared risers are common here.
On the hill, older villas around Queens Road carry century-old pipework behind their walls. Down on the filled wharf flats near MacArthur Avenue and Hercules Street, the towers stack bathrooms above each other, so one split hose can soak several flats below before anyone finds where it started.
We work 7 days a week, with no extra charge for nights, weekends or public holidays. For the faults that can't sit and wait, our emergency plumber page lists what to do first. To see the full range of work across Hamilton, start with the home page.

Three parts make up the plumbing in any bathroom: the lines that bring water in, the drains that carry it away, and the fittings at the end of each run.
hot and cold lines feeding every fixture, from the shower mixer to the bath spout.
pipes that take used water from each fixture out to the sewer.
the bath, the shower and the basin, plus the mixers and taps at each one.
In the apartment towers, those three parts rarely serve one home alone. A wet area on the fifth floor shares risers with the floors above and below, so a fault in one flat can show up as a damp patch in another. That changes how a repair is planned before anyone opens a wall.
In the older houses, the supply lines are often the original galvanised iron, hidden behind newer wall linings after decades of updating. Knowing what's in the wall is half the diagnosis on a pre-war villa.

Every tap and shower sold for Australian homes carries two marks: WaterMark certification, and registration under the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) scheme.
certifies the product as safe and fit for its purpose under the Plumbing Code of Australia.
covers water efficiency. The label carries a star rating and the water use figures.
New dwellings need showerheads and tapware at 3 stars or better. Renovations don't have to meet that minimum, though an efficient fitting still cuts your water bill.
One rule applies on the hot side. A tempering device holds the water reaching your taps at 50°C or below, because that temperature is enough for hygiene while sharply reducing scalding risk. Our hot water plumbing page covers the systems behind that limit.

No, you can't do them yourself. Bathroom plumbing is regulated work in Queensland, and only a licensed plumber may carry it out. The list of jobs outside that rule is short.
You may legally do two things:
That's the list. Fitting a whole new tap, moving a mixer or touching the waste pipes all belong to a licence holder. The licensing system exists to protect your house, your health and your legal position as an owner.
Even the two unregulated jobs still have to satisfy the minimum standard the codes set. A shower head cross-threaded onto a worn thread will leak, licence or no licence.

The split works like this: a straight swap of an old fixture for a new one is minor work, while adding a fixture or relocating an existing one is notifiable work.
a licensed plumber does the swap, with no permit from council and no Form 4.
no council permit is needed here either. The plumber lodges a Form 4 with the QBCC within 10 business days of finishing, and you receive a copy.
Bathroom additions, extensions and renovations in an existing building fall under notifiable work too, done by a licensed plumbing or drainage contractor without a permit or inspection. Keep your Form 4 with the property records; it's proof the work was done properly if you ever sell.
One local wrinkle: in a community titles scheme, the lot owner or occupier maintains the shower tray, even where the tray sits outside the lot itself. Body corporate rules can also add an approval step before work starts in a tower, which is worth checking early.
Each job type below has its own page with the detail you need before you book.

QBCC No: 15024607 covers our licensed plumbing and gasfitting. Every job is done by a licensed plumber, and we're licensed and insured.
No, you can't. Regulated work belongs to licensed plumbers, and the unregulated list is short: swapping a shower head and changing a tap's washer or jumper valve. Everything else in a Queensland bathroom needs a licence.
No, not usually. Adding, moving or renovating bathroom fixtures counts as notifiable work, which needs no council permit. A permit applies only in special cases, such as building over a shared drain.
Yes, in an existing building. Installing a new fixture or relocating an old one is notifiable work. The licensed plumber lodges a Form 4 with the QBCC within 10 business days, and your copy arrives with it.
Swapping a fixture for the same kind is minor work. Adding a fixture, or shifting an existing one to a new spot, is notifiable work, and that is how renovation plumbing is classed in Queensland.
Look the plumber up on the QBCC's licence register online. A second register lists any Form 4 recorded against your Hamilton property, so you can confirm the paperwork was lodged after notifiable work.
Three things drive the price: how many fixtures are added or moved, how easily we reach the pipes, and what condition they are in. A fixed quote covers it before work starts.
